Hola a todos! I'm Mike, a rising sophomore in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department. During our trip I will be in charge of data collection and analysis, specifically working with various equipment on hydraulic grade line calculations to determine the feasibility of a water pipeline. This is my first year with EWB Peru and I am so excited to join the team on the trip to live and work in Pusunchás! Over the past year I have been focusing mainly on the technical aspects of the project and learning about the engineering related challenges we will face. But, I am also incredibly interested in meeting the community members, experiencing their culture, and learning about their day-to-day lives. I have spent this summer up to now beginning to teach myself Spanish so I can do my best to communicate with the people we will be working with. I can't wait until we viajamos a Perú to see the Andes, to start this project rolling, and to hopefully get in some high altitude workouts to prep for this fall's cross country season!
